I got beaten to the post by Steepechasing yesterday as I was too busy to respond to the question posed by Jonathan.
I think I know what Phar Lap looks like as he was supposed to be scrawny even before meeting his Taxidermist.
I thought he was in a Melbourne Museum not Canberra.
Whilst I Hate people taking photos in Museums or Art Galleries (just buy the Post Card when you exit the gift shop) I think that Pic represents his cultural status beside the Picassos.
The Skeleton of Arkle is at the Irish National Stud. Like Cromwell he was exhumed.
It should be placed in the Jack Yeats section in I think Gallery 20 or 16? In the National Art Gallery of Ireland where it belongs besides his Horse Racing Paintings.
Better still the Niland Arts Gallery in Sligo who have most of Yeats Horse Racing Paintings.
